It’s Never to Late to Learn to Golf
Meet Debbie
She has proved you are never to late to start to play golf! Speaking to her last fall she must have played every day until the snow began! Hope she inspires you to get out there!
Debbie – Age 58, Halifax NS
Her first time trying golf was Sept 27, 2015
Why did you try golf?
To humour my husband. He had golfed many years ago and now that we are both retired we saw it as something we could do together. I went along with him that day.
What got you hooked?
The first crack of that driver! Got me excited, I knew I wanted to play. Plus, I love being outdoors, the walk. I love the personal challenge, improving and learning something new. It is a bonus that this is something I can do with my husband.
What is your advice to other women?
Give it at least one try, ideally with someone who knows the game. Take lessons – learn the basics and if you are enjoying it you will want to keep improving. Do some reading – learn about etiquette and terminology. This coming from someone who had no idea was a green was! There’s plenty to learn if interested.
True, some days are better than others – try not to get frustrated with yourself. Remember, it’s a game!
