Learn to Golf: For Runners

Follow these 6 Steps to become a Golfer this Summer

I am a golfer.

Earlier this year I had a great meeting with Stacy Chestnutt, Race Director for Sole Sisters Women’s Race. We share a similar passion to see women empower one another and encourage ladies and girls to become physically active. Stacy is a runner, a serious runner. I learned that day that Stacy has never swung a golf club in her life. Later, I was thinking about our meeting and thought to myself, If you can run 40 marathons, you can play golf! Fall arrives this coming Saturday and like many golfers it is my favourite time to enjoy golf. If you are prepared you can enjoy the weather and your golf. Here are my tips on enjoying fall golf:
Dress in Layers – Be sure to have a jacket that will protect you from the wind but has enough stretch to allow you to swing. A warm stretch sweater, toque and a compression shirt will help keep you warm. Winter golf gloves will also help keep your hands warm
Club Up – Cooler temperatures mean the ball won’t go as far. Be sure to take an extra club and swing easy.
Play a softer ball – The softer ball will give you more feel around the greens helping you stop the ball faster.
Enjoy an adult beverage!

Thanks for the support out there today at @delltechchamp. Looking to make a #FedExCup move this week!

In the 1970s, I began fighting for a place in women's sports, and I’m not done yet. Today only 29% of girls continue to play sports after leaving school. Join me and @adidastennis to keep girls playing.
